FAAST: Fair trade Awareness. Africa's Sustainability. Together. RUN FOR A REASON

FAAST: Fair trade Awareness. Africa's Sustainability. Together. RUN FOR A REASON
When: Sunday, April 26, 2009
Time: 8:00 am-1:00pm
Where: K-State Campus--Bosco Plaza in front of the Union

Visit http://faastfunrun.wordpress.com/ to learn more about the event
and to register!

K-State's Episcopal Student group is hosting a 5K Fun Run/Walk to help
raise awareness for global issues such as the fair trade movement,
environmental sustainability and social action. The course will travel
through K-State's lovely campus, and even if you're not a runner,
bring a friend and catch up on life while you walk! After the 5K,
there will be a social justice fair held in Bosco Plaza in front of
the Union. This is an opportunity to learn more about some of the
student groups on campus and the causes they support and promote.

Registration will start at 8:30 am that morning, and the race will
begin at 9:00 am. The registration fee is $10 for individuals and $25
for a team of 3. Team registration is highly encouraged! You can even
select an African country your team would like to represent. We will
also be selling tote bags for $12 that were made by women in Kenya and
Malawi who sustain their livelihood by making products such as these.
Prizes will also be awarded after the race.

We will also have on campus registration during the following dates and times:
Justin Hall lounge: Tuesday, April 14th - Thursday, April 16th 11 am - 1 pm
Student Union: Tuesday, April 21st - Thursday, April 23rd 11 am - 2 pm

Don't forget to tell your friends, family, anyone and everyone you
know! And out of towners, don't be scared! If you want to come in town
for the race, just let us know, and we'll find you a place to stay :)

Our mission for this event is to create awareness in our community
because only then can we take action together. Proceeds from the event
will go towards supporting Comfort the Children International (a
non-profit organization based in Kenya), Africa Bags and Equal
Exchange (a company committed to fair trade products).

The FAAST Fun Run 5K is a race dedicated to promoting awareness and
action. Together we can make a difference. Simple acts, such as
purchasing fair trade food and gift items can make dramatic changes in
the lives of people across the globe. The focus of this race is issues
in Africa. Run for reason, and join the fight against poverty and
inequality.

more about the journey we will be making this summer to Maai Mahiu, a
town located 30 miles northwest of Nairobi, Kenya.
